Across the bridge of Kinsale Town
there’s a place to stop and pray.
Just take a right and right again
off the Wild Atlantic Way.
Here you’ll find a garden
that will bring you to your knees
where deaths alive with honour
amongst simple rows of trees.
Kathleen ‘Cait’ Murphy wished to share
this ghostly plot of land
with planted seeds of love to grow
in memory of man.
343 trees now stand
in rows of tiny manner.
Each one with a nameplate
and a small star-spangled banner.
Every tree a tribute
to a life so freely given
to save the lives of others
so they could keep on living.
Winds blowing through the branches
echo spirits of brave firemen
who lost their lives by going to work
on that tragic 9-11.
