Flanking either side of the Twin Towers sculpture stand two stone memorial benches, installed in September 2026. One of these beautiful stone benches was kindly donated by families of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 – specifically Linda Murphy, widow of Lieutenant Raymond Murphy (Ladder 16); Andrea O’Hagan, widow of Lieutenant Thomas O’Hagan (Engine 52); and Jane Ill, sister of Captain Frederick Ill (Ladder 2).
Having attended the 2025 remembrance service, Linda and Jane were deeply moved by the sanctuary created at Ringfinnan. Together with Andrea – a close friend of garden supporter Danny Manning – they wished to acknowledge the ongoing dedication that keeps the memory of their loved ones alive.
Crafted with a quick turnaround by O’Connell Stone in Ovens, Co. Cork, and installed with the generous assistance of Kinsale Fire and Rescue, the bench offers visitors a quiet place of reflection beside the central monuments.
