The 343

Memorials

It was clear and blue that day in September
A day later we knew it was one we would always remember
The hustle, the bustle, it was always like that
But today would be different only we didn’t know that
The roar in the sky, the rumble and flames
The fear in our eyes and later the pain
The buildings are down – we looked – they were gone
God, how could this happen we would think later on
They ran in not thinking they would never come out
How could that be – there was never a doubt
Later the number was 343
It just wasn’t possible – how could this be
These men are our heroes – we miss them each day
They died helping others – they went out of their way
So always remember – keep them in your heart
The 343 – let them never depart.
