Brian J. Masterson was a Longford born FDNY firefighter who retired from FDNY Marine Company 9 in 2015 and worked for Ladder 45 for nearly 20 years. Brian responded to the September 11th attacks and spent months working at ground zero in the aftermath of this tragedy.
Brian was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2015 as a direct result of working at ground zero in the aftermath of the attacks. Brian passed away on 22nd January 2017. Brian’s brother, Kevin, is also a retired member of the FDNY and now lives in Carrigaline, Co. Cork.
The Masterson family commissioned a sculptor dedicated to Brian and all those that have passed away from 9/11 related illnesses, the number of which continue to increase. We remember them all and may they rest in peace.
